J. Stefan Institute is the largest Slovenian research institute, covering a broad spectrum of fields. The staff of more than 1050 specializes in natural sciences, life sciences and engineering. The subjects concern robotics and automation, information and communication technologies, knowledge technologies, biotechnologies, new materials, environmental technologies, nanotechnologies, and nuclear engineering. The J. Stefan Institute is named after the distinguished 19th century physicist Jožef Stefan, most famous for his work on the Stefan-Bolzmann law of black-body radiation.
